The Four-Phase Learning Approach

Facilitators are trained and certified to facilitate and reinforce new skills in four phases during every group session.

Modeling: During this very important phase, case facilitators will explain social skills in detail and demonstrate how the social skill is used and in what situations the skill is applicable.

Coaching: During the second phase, participants engage in role-playing activities that help her practice the skill with her peers.

Feedback: It is very important for children to receive feedback about his or her progress using the new skill. Feedback is most effective when it is coming from multiple sources, such as the facilitator, teachers, and the parent.

Application: Participants are encouraged to use the new skill throughout their normal day, and she will be encouraged to share how they are using the new skill in other settings.
